Politics on Facebook...

Dear friends and family: I love you all. I love you all regardless of your political ideologies. Chances are, I know the way you swing politically and have for sometime, and either quietly disagree with you or quietly agree with you. I will guarantee you this, however: nothing political you post on Facebook is going to make me change my mind. This medium does not lend itself to intelligent political discourse, as far as I can tell, as I have yet to see anything posted from either side that isn't meant to be insulting or inflammatory in nature. If you posted something like this on a topic I disagree with, then I am likely disappointed in you and will stop reading your updates. If you posted something like this on a topic I do agree with, then I am likely disappointed in you and will stop reading your updates. The point is, you all seem like petulant, ill-behaved grade-schoolers in a "My daddy can beat up your daddy" contest. All of you are more intelligent than this. Please, think - who do I think I'm reaching with this? And then think - who could I be losing? I don't want to hide your feeds, but I've reached my limit. Thanks.

Please excuse the mess...

While I'm in the process of reviving this blog, it's going to look a little messy. Yes, I deleted a lot of old content. Ok, all of the old content. That was old me, this is new me. Better me. More together me. Not bitter post divorce me. The old me was useful, but wrong. The new me is stronger, better, faster, smarter. Cue weird robot dance.

Blog, resurrected

So, it has been years, literally, since I last wrote on this blog. Life happened, and it happened hardcore. Job changes, life changes, a kid with cancer, a molestation case against my wife's ex, a kid with autism, a forced move, readjusting to a new, belt-tightened life. There have been ups as well as the downs, and right now, things are definitely on the up. The trial is finally happening, for good or for ill, Myn and I have both landed great jobs, and my writing bug has finally returned. Hence the resurrection of this once-dead blog. Good thing I picked and appropriate name, huh? Speaking of the writing thang, this last weekend I got to attend the Crossroads Writer's Conference in Macon, GA, and DAMNED was it fun! Not only did I learn a lot from the panels, I got to connect with some fantastically funny, smart, and sarcastically witty people. Special shout outs to Chuck, Matt, Jeremy, Paul, and the ever lovely Delilah! Also, earned a new nickname, thanks to the funny, very drunk Chris Horne. You can call me "TimJim". ~Mark AKA Woeg AKA TimJim
